About Baconnoisseur

The bacon app for people who take bacon a little too seriously.

Why this exists

Bacon is one of the few foods where the gap between great and mediocre is enormous, and nobody's keeping score. Yelp tells you if a restaurant is good. It doesn't tell you whether their bacon is properly rendered, thick enough, smoky without being burnt, or whether their bacon, egg & cheese actually respects the sacred 1:1:1 ratio.

Baconnoisseur is a community of people who've decided that's a problem worth fixing.

How it works

Every dish gets rated on five axes. For bacon dishes: flavor, smokiness, crispiness, thickness, and saltiness. For BECs: bacon, egg, cheese, bread, and balance. Those axes roll up into a single weighted score so you can compare a thick-cut pub strip to a candied cocktail appetizer fairly.

Ratings come from anyone — anonymous visitors at a venue scanning a QR code, or app users tracking their bacon journey across the city. Both count. Both are public.

NYC first

We're starting in New York because the bacon density here is absurd — diners, bodegas, bagel shops, steakhouses, brunch spots, Michelin kitchens. If Baconnoisseur can rank bacon in NYC fairly, it can do it anywhere.

Get involved

Download the app (coming soon), rate what you eat, and help surface the best bacon in your borough. If you run a restaurant with serious bacon, say hi — we'd love to feature you.
